Autotune: a little clarification

Yes there are products out there that automatically tune and re-tune your bike on a moment by moment by moment basis. Yes they work. No they are not all the same. One thing most people forget to tell you when they sell you one is they need a place to start.

Assume you just upgraded your old reliable, good running 88" motor to a fire breathing 103" and you want that automatic tuning ecm thing to get it running correctly. That module, even if you had it on the bike before the upgrades doesn't know what you just did to the bike. That means it has to run way out of what is optimal long enough to collect data and figure out how to tune the new configuration. That can be more than just annoying it can cause damage, really expensive damage. The solution: A proper tune to start with.

At W.A.R. Performance we know you may not live close enough to get a W.A.R. dyno tune. We know you may live hundreds of feet closer to or further from seal level than we are. We know that your average daily temps and humidity may be vastly different than ours.

That is why every package we sell comes with an S&S standalone ECM and closed loop auto tune system. The S&S system has been proven on the salt at Bonneville, it corrects for variations and tunes on the fly. More importantly we can preload a base tune into it that we know will work with the components in the kit. Gone are the days of buying some parts and hoping your local dyno shop that only knows the basics of dyno tuning can get the most out of them.
